Flowers and Pets

Writer: heathersbloomsheathersblooms

Who loves having fresh flowers in the house? We do! While it's always a good idea to keep flowers where pets can't consume them, it's important to be mindful of which flowers can be harmful to your pets. You can also notify your florist of pets in the house when ordering. We care about our customers and want their pets to be safe!

We have combined a list of popular florist flowers that are toxic or can cause irritation to our pet friends:

-Lilies (cats and dogs)

-Daffodils (cats and dogs)

-Tulips (cats and dogs)

-Chrysanthemums (cats and dogs)

-Gladiolus (cats)

-Iris (cats and dogs)

-Daisies (dogs)

-Eucalyptus (dogs)

-Hydrangeas (dogs)

This is not a complete list of flowers that can be harmful, but includes some of the more commonly used florist flowers. Flowers can lift your day and brighten your space. As a pet parent, be mindful when you have cut flowers, plants and other things that can be potentially harmful. If your pet eats your flowers or something poisonous, they might exhibit one or more of these symptoms:

Vomiting, Diarrhea, Lethargy, Nausea, Seizures and Coma

Use good judgment when determining whether medical assistance is needed for your pet friend. This information was sourced from the ASPCA website. As always keep yourself informed of any hazards to your pet.
