As floral designers we live and breath everything about flowers. But we have a serious love for plants too! Have you heard that keeping certain plants in your home can be beneficial to your health? We all learn in science class that plants produce oxygen, but they can also remove toxins. Check these superstars for clean air!

Spathiphyllum (Peace Lily) - These beautiful and easy to maintain plants produce lovely white flowers. We particularly love the variety, Domino Spathiphyllum. Keep the soil moist but not wet. If you forget to water, they'll remind you with droopy leaves. These wonderful plants remove a variety of toxins such as; ammonia, acetone and formaldehyde.

Dieffenbachia - Great for areas that receive medium light. They remove toxins like formaldehyde, benzene and trichloroethylene. Water when top soil is dry to the touch. Be aware that Dieffenbachia is toxic to humans and pets, so be mindful of where you keep it.

Sansevieria (snake plant) - This plant flourishes in full sun to shade and requires minimal watering. Only water once the soil is dry. This plant is easy care and very versatile. A perfect plant for self-professed brown-thumbs. This plant removes toxins like benzene, formaldehyde and xylene.

Bromeliad - This plant is great for those of us who forget to water our plants regularly! Seriously though, it requires mininal watering. Water it like a succulent and it will be happy. These plants effectively remove harmful VOCs from the air.

Pothos (Devil's Ivy)- One of the most common houseplants. The pothos can thrive in bright or low light. They can be propegated by clipping below a node and placing in water until it roots. This plant prefers moist soil. Water when the top soil is dry. Pothos plants remove formaldehyde, benzene and xylene.

Boston Fern - One of the most effective air purifiers. Boston Ferns need a cool place with high humidity and indirect light. If you don't have a humid environment for it, spritz it with water to help keep the leaves hydrated. This plant removes toxins such as; benzene, formaldehyde, xylene and toluene.

These are just a few examples of beneficial plants, There are many other types of plants that are great at cleaning the air. We've spotlighted these plants in particular because these are plants we carry in our shop. They can be purchases as a single plant or in a European Garden (several smaller plants in one basket). Call us to schedule your plant delivery, or check the link below. We know you'll enjoy them as much as we do!
